Located in the western part of India, Maharashtra is the third largest state in the country. The state covers an area of 307713 sq km. Maharashtra borders Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka, Goa and Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The Arabian Sea is located in the western part of the state.
Divided into thirty-six districts, it has cities such as Mumbai, Poona, Aurangabad, Rangabad, Kolhapur, Solapur, Nagpur, Thane, Jalgaon and Amravati which occupy a separate place on the world map. All districts of Maharashtra are divided into six sections: Aurangabad Rangabad Division, Amravati Division, Konkan Division, Nagpur Division, Nashik Division and Pune Division.
The state, which has one of the largest film industries in the world, is also the largest contributor to the national industrial production of Bollywood, India.
